Obituary of Betty Dussel

June 11, 1954 – July 5, 2017

Betty Dussel. Age 63 of La Salle.

Beloved wife of Tom Dussel. Loving mother of David (Susan) Lane and Alicia (Jason) Sanders and step mother of Tom Dussel Jr. and Tabitha (Bob) Ezzone. Dearest grandmother of Abigail Lane, Joshua Lane, Brooklynn Sanders, Kyle Dussel, Kelsey Dussel, Amanda Harrington, Brandy Dussel, Alyson Ezzone and Austin Ezzone. Dear sister of Mary (Tim) Snellman and Simone (Barry) Purdy. Also survived by 10 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents Simon and Martha Mendoza and sisters Dolores Nicholson and Rosalie Maddox.

FAMILY TRIBUTE

My mother was a Christian, a powerful woman of God. I take solace that she is in Heaven, removed from the pain of this world. This place is not our home, Heaven is our intended home -if we only choose to accept it. The gates were certainly full of her loved ones to welcome her home and show her the glory and peace she dreamt of inheriting when God called her name. She used the countless gifts God entrusted her with as she grew in Him to change lives and the world. From her calling as a nurse manager, she helped mold the careers of new doctors, doctors that could one day cure cancer or save the life of your loved one. She enjoyed her job and cared deeply for her coworkers and patients. She was also a loving, devoted wife, obeying the call on her life to honor and cherish her true love, Tom Dussel, and he cherished, honored and led in her in Christ in return. Their love is the kind we all pray to find. For ten amazing years they lived in that love knowing God had designed and molded them for one another. They shared a passion for work in God's missions fields around the world. God called her to dangerous, unclean, disease ridden countries, and she stepped out in faith to follow the call every time. Building shelter for those without, giving a child a small toy, toothbrush or candy and filling their face with a smile that may have been absent for far too long. Giving medical care to those that may have never had any care and doing it with a gentle touch. Most importantly, spreading the love of Jesus and telling people about the miracles He has in store for them if they only believe and accept His gift. Nothing brought her greater joy than leading a soul to the comforting arms of Christ, knowing one day, they would inherit the kingdom she now resides within. Her role as a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor and friend brought her immense joy. She was the kind of person you couldn't help falling in love with as soon as you met her. She would immediately show her beautiful smile and open her generous heart, making you feel like you were truly special, God's love flowed from her freely. There was something different and special about the way God designed her - she was a natural care taker, using her gifts, knowledge and love through Christ to touch the lives of others in countless ways. She is missed dearly, but I will see her again one day and you can too. If you'd like to know how you can receive the gift God has for you of eternal life, please contact me.
