Obituary of Luis R. Flores, Sr.
May 9, 1939 – September 16, 2017
Luis R. Flores, Sr. Age 78 of Southgate.
Loving father of Reverend Dr. Luis R. Flores, Jr. DC (Susan). Beloved grandfather of Matthew (Kelly) Flores, Gabriel Flores, and Francis Flores. Loving great-grandfather of Jacob, Elijah, David, and Tylah Flores. Preceded in death by his beloved mother Josephine Dobson, and grandmother, Trinidad Trevino.
Mr. Flores loved his family deeply. He was always present for whatever need anyone had. The same can be said of his Trinity Maryhaven “family,” where he lived for the last 15 years of his life. He always gave of himself in any situation.
Mr. Flores was an avid Detroit sports fan; Tigers, Red Wings, and Lions, in no particular order. He loved them all. He also enjoyed a good game of Texas hold-em’ poker, as well as going to the movies. He loved to socialize with his neighbors at Maryhaven, and will be missed by many.
He took great pride in his profession as a cement truck driver. One of his proudest accomplishments was in 1999, when the company he worked for was working on the McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. His company won a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for pouring the most concrete ever poured in a 24 hour period. He was awarded a jacket remembering the feat, and he cherished that.
In lieu of flowers the family would be grateful for donations to offset funeral costs.
