My heart goes out to the family and friends of Sheryl. She was so easy to like and easier to love. She had such a great sense of humor and was so much fun to be around. I was her neighbor for the past 2 years and I'd stop in for a visit with her, now and then, and she was always so up beat. We would share tidbits about our families, our kids and grandkids. And sometimes we would talk about her fight for life. Did it ever get her down? Of course it did, but Sheryl focused on what made her happy rather than what depressed her. She loved her kids and grandkids, her Mother and sister, Barb. Always had such funny stories to tell about her loved ones. She was quite a story teller and we would always end up laughing.
For whatever reason my dog, Cujo, would do his "duty" on her lawn and I can't tell you how many times I would say to Sheryl, as I would immediately run out to clean up after my dog, "I'm so sorry he keeps going on your grass. I can't seem to get him to go on his own lawn." She would tell me it was "No big deal and not to sweat the small stuff." I think when you have cancer and fight it as long and as hard as she did, you have a different perspective on life. Sheryl knew with every fiber of her being what was really important in her life and what wasn't and Cujo pooping on her lawn didn't seem to be catastrophic to her.....and I am so thankful for that.
I will really miss my terrific neighbor, they just don't make them like her anymore. My love and prayers go out to all of her family for Sheryl will be terribly missed by so many of us. Luv & Hugs
