Beloved wife of the late William G. Horner to whom she was married for 64 years. She was a loving mother to Mary Jo Horner.
Mary H. Horner age 100 was a resident of Southgate, Michigan, and a member of St. Pius Parish for 74 years. She passed away quietly on November 11, 2024. Mary was born in Wyandotte on 12th Street to Josephine and Frank Ptaszkiewicz who had immigrated from Poland. She lived on 12th Street until she met her loving husband William G. Horner at work where they made suitcases and trunks. They were married at Mt. Carmel Church in Wyandotte and stayed together for 64 years and had one daughter, Mary Jo Horner. She loved to work in the garden with her plants and had quite a green thumb; everything grew for her. Mary was a strong woman taking care of the house, her family, and a large yard until she was 98 years old. She even went through a bout of stage 2 breast cancer when she was in her eighties. Mary outlived her parents and her two sisters, Phyllis Koester and Jane Pomnichowski, and her brother Stephen Ptaszkiewicz who was killed in World War II. She is the beloved ”Aunt Hattie” to several nieces and nephews. She will be missed and always loved.
