Dennis P. Grugen. Age 75 of Trenton.
Loving father of Briana (Jason) Porter, Zach (Amber) Grugen, and Josh Grugen. Dear brother of Deb Grugen, the late Donald Grugen, the late David Grugen, and the late Kirstin Brelsfoard. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Grugen and Betty Stelzer.
Family Tribute
Dennis Grugen will be remembered as someone who truly loved life, laughter, and the people around him. A graduate of Trenton High School, Dennis was an avid sports fan who enjoyed just about every game there was. He played many sports himself over the years—from baseball to bowling to golf—and always appreciated the camaraderie and fun that came with them. He was a loyal Michigan sports fan, especially when it came to Lions football and Tigers baseball.
Dennis, aka “Grug” had a personality that naturally drew people in. In his younger days he was often described as the life of the party. His sense of humor and fun nature made him someone people loved to be around.He was always good for a quick, witty one-liner to make someone laugh; perfect strangers included.
He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. Beyond that service, Dennis was known for being great with his hands and someone always willing to help build, fix, or figure out just about anything.
Dennis also had a deep appreciation for good food and never turned down a home-cooked meal. More than anything, though, he treasured time with his family. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and loved hearing about what was going on in their lives. Whether it was their accomplishments, the sports they were playing, or simply how school was going, Dennis would light up listening to their stories.
To Dennis, the best moments in life were the ones spent with family and friends—sharing meals, laughter, and conversation. He will be remembered for his humor, his loyalty, and the joy he brought to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created with those who loved him will be cherished always.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Trenton American Legion
