William “Bill” Butler.  Age 77 of Wyandotte.

Beloved husband of Sherry for 47 years.  Loving father of Shelby (Chris) Rempel.  Dearest grandfather of Sophia, Benjamin and Brady.

 

Family Tribute ~

William “Bill” Butler, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and longtime IBEW lineman, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, at the age of 77. Bill was a devoted family man, cherished by his loving wife, Sherry, his daughter Shelby, son-in-law Chris, and his adoring grandchildren, Sophia, Benjamin, and Brady.

Born on August 27, 1947, Bill was part of a large family that meant the world to him. He held a special place in his heart for his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Bill’s love and devotion to his extended family were unwavering, and he took great joy in family gatherings, where his laughter and warmth were always a welcome presence.

Throughout his life, Bill stayed involved in the community. He was an avid sports enthusiast, playing in an adult softball league where he built lasting friendships, and spending countless weekends at the ballpark. His love for sports extended to his passion for bowling at Indian Lanes, where he spent many enjoyable nights with friends, competing and sharing good times.

Bill was a US Army veteran, where he proudly served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Bill dedicated over four decades of his life to his work as an IBEW lineman for Local 17. His career spanned across Wyandotte Municipal Services and Harlan Electric, where he was known for his hard work, commitment, and expertise. His contributions to the community were immeasurable, and his colleagues respected him as both a skilled craftsman and a trusted friend.

An unwavering Detroit Lions fan, Bill was known for his loyalty and enthusiasm for the team, no matter the season. He also had a deep love for youth sports, never missing one of his daughter’s games throughout her childhood. His passion for sports extended to his love of Miller Lite, which he frequently shared with family and friends during celebrations and good times.

Bill will be remembered for his big heart, his quick wit, and his never-ending generosity. His family and friends will carry on his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. He was the epitome of a hardworking man who always made time for those he loved.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Molnar-Nixon’s Chapel in Wyandotte on February 20th, with a visitation at 2-8 PM and a memorial service at Molnar-Nixon’s Chapel on Friday, February 21st at 10 AM.

Bill’s spirit will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
