Obituary of Mark Robert Smith
July 31, 1982 - February 8, 2025
On February 8th, 2025, at 42 years young, Mark Robert Smith was led by Angels to his new Heavenly home to be with The Lord. And waiting for him to spend eternity there is his brother, Adam and so many other family and friends we have lost. His troubles and physical illness here on earth are now over.
Mark was an amazing athlete who excelled in many contact sports. He also loved bowling with his brothers, hunting with friends and family, and repairing damaged vehicles.
Mark had a deep passion for riding ATVs and dirt bikes. He received many motocross championship awards for his excellent riding skills.
In his professional life, Mark was an auto body technician. His main expertise and enjoyment was in automotive painting. In his personal life, Mark became a husband and a father to 4 children.
In more recent years, Mark developed some physical and mental challenges that prevented him from being present in their lives. He would stay in contact with them in other ways. No matter what the issues were, Mark’s continued love for them all never wavered. No words or actions could convey how much he truly loved his children.
To gain a purpose and to have hope for a better day, Mark would regularly listen to and study sermons from Pastor Steven Furtick through Elevation Worship. On days of joy and on those days of despair, their words and songs so many times gave Mark comfort and hope. One of his favorite songs was Jireh. The words rang true for him. His favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13–” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This verse is a very powerful reminder for all of us to live by.
Mark’s life struggles were real! The ones closest to him knew that those struggles did not define him. However, it did prevent him from being the best version of himself.
Mark expressed many times wanting to be in ministry. Some would consider Mark a prayer warrior. Even in his weakest moments, God gave him the strength to pray over others.
With such a troubled life, Mark still strived to be a Soldier for all of us. And although that was not a winning battle, we must thank God for the time he allowed us to have with him. We must also remain resilient in having peace knowing that Mark is no longer in pain. He is finally free of the troubles this world held over him. God now has Mark in his care. We are confident Mark is now a Soldier for our Lord in Heaven.
Mark had tattooed the words ”Gods Plan” on his chest. Now we know what that plan actually is.
Mark will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kelsey; children: Olivia, Deryck, Lydia and Landyn; brothers, Sean(Brandy) and Cole; mother, Donna; cousins, Annette and Justin, and many more family and friends.
A special thank you to our cousins, John(Ruth), Bonnie and Alan. Also, to close friends of our family, Elaine and Marlene.
Thank you all for taking the time to talk and listen to Mark, and for allowing him into your hearts. It meant the world to him knowing he was not alone!
Per Mark’s wishes, cremation will take place followed by inurnment at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc.
