Family Tribute ~

Christine Lance (nee McMillen), age 83, passed away February 20, 2025. Beloved wife of Harry J. Lance, married 63 years. Loving mother of David Lance (Sherry, deceased) and Cheryl Weisbarth (Rob). Caring grandmother (“Grammy”/“Gigi”) of Sarah Lance-Moore (Nick), Robert Aeck (Misty) and Jeremy Aeck. Great-Grandmother to Robbie, Rachel and Megan. “Grammy Christmas” to Carlie Szajko, Chloe Scott, Miranda Banks and Parker Banks. Cherished sister of George (Marie) (both deceased), James (Muriel) (both deceased), Ella (Ken) (both deceased), Andrew (deceased) (Moira) and Ken (deceased) (Winnifred). Beloved sister-in-law to Sylvia Joram (John, deceased). Aunt, great aunt, and cousin to many. Friend and neighbor to many more.

Christine was born December 2, 1941 in Belfast, Northern Ireland to Andrew and Emma McMillen and raised by her “bonus” mother, Aunt Chris Cairns, and “bonus” sister, Sylvia Jefferson, after the untimely deaths of her parents. She moved to the United States when she was a teenager to live with her sister, Ella. Shortly after moving, she met her neighbor and soon to be love of her life, Harry. They married very young and soon after started their family. In addition to raising her family, she also worked for the Wyandotte Public Schools as a lunch mom and custodian for many years. She was recognized by others in most places she went in Wyandotte because she helped “raise” so many kids and was a well-liked lady. She was an animal lover and had a fond love for Shetland Sheepdogs. Over the years, she was “Mom” and “Grandma” to many – Boots, Finnigan, Casey, Ace-Ahh, Max, Sampson, Sparky, Chance, Gunner, Kitty, Cinnamon, Lola, Tripp, Chief, Findlay and Whiskey. She also took care of Clancy the bird and Peter Rabbit along the way.

Chris was an avid cook and baker. She had many favorite Irish, Hungarian and Slovakian recipes that she loved to prepare for her family and extended family.

Besides her family she was very fond of her “adopted kids” (you know who you are). She was very close to them and loved them like her own children.

The family will receive friends at The Thon Center (Molnar Funeral Homes), 2760 Biddle Avenue, Wyandotte, MI 48192 on Friday, February 28 between 3 pm and 7 pm.
