Obituary of Barbara Ann Whitman
January 9, 1933 - February 4, 2025
Barbara Ann Whitman. Age 92 of Florida.
Barbara was born on January 9, 1933 in Wyandotte to Gerald and Arvesta Grier. She married Bill Whitman, now deceased, on July 28, 1951. She is survived by her two sons, David in central PA and Daniel in Seattle, her four grandchildren Alex, Allison, Caroline and Kelsie, and great granddaughter Wilder.
Barbara had a long, successful career in banking, starting as an entry-level teller and retiring as a vice president of her bank. She was an active member of the Michigan Business and Professional Women, as well as many local organizations and clubs. She was a volunteer with the Special Olympics for many years.
Her mild demeanor belied an adventurous streak. On a lark, she learned to pilot small aircraft, earning her pilot's license. She was an avid traveler, visiting most of the national parks in the US with her family, and later loved to explore exotic locations around the world with Bill.
She retired to Florida to leave behind cold winters, but maintained ties with friends and family back in Michigan and across the country. She passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025.
