Obituary of Carol S. Szalay
Carol Sue Szalay, age 80, of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Southgate, MI, passed away surrounded by loved ones on May 29, 2025.
Carol was born on August 15, 1944 in Trenton, MI. She was the daughter of Harold and Olive (Wilcox) Johns; and the wife of Robert “Bob” Szalay for 58 years.
Carol loved spending time with her family most of all. Her unwavering love and devotion for those around her was felt in her holiday traditions, knitted blankets and baking.
Carol was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her husband Bob, her sons: Steven (Kelly Hill) Szalay, Joseph (Jennifer) Szalay and Timothy (Sarah) Szalay; seven grandchildren: Joel (Stephanie), Sara (David), Rachel, Seth, Adam, Griffin and Evan; and four great-grandchildren: Oden, Alice, Nora and Joey; and her sister Margaret Knox.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Robert, John, George, and David.
A visitation will be held at Molnar Funeral Home, Wyandotte Nixon Location in Wyandotte, MI. A private service and burial will be held for the immediate family members of Carol.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home visitation on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to PBS and St. Jude.
