Obituary of Jean Hazel Shomsky
June 9, 1928 - July 12, 2025
Jean H. (Chanavier) Shomsky quietly passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025. She was 97 years old.
Jean was a loving mother and encouraging supporter of all her children in their sports and social activities. She was a loving wife to her husband Albert and a dedicated caregiver in his time of need. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, and watching baseball and football games on TV. She loved to play cards, especially in her retirement years.
Jean was the last surviving child of Philip and Muriel Chanavier, predeceased by her mom and dad, five sisters and two brothers. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert Shomsky and loving mother of James (Jackie), Lynne (Mark Caruso), David (Suzanne), Paula (the late John Stanko), the late Mark (Nicole), Geri (Craig Drys) and the late Ronald. She is the grandmother of 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are greatly appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or any hospice organization.

The funeral home began in his home until relocating across the street to it's Delray location at 8623 Dearborn Avenue, in 1936.
