Obituary of Barbara J. Munroe

April 1, 1963 - July 22, 2025

Barbara Jean Munroe.  Age 62 of Taylor.

Barbara Jean Munroe, 62, went home to be with the Lord on July 22, 2025.

She was born on April 1, 1963 in Dearborn, Michigan to her loving mother Marion Wessels. Barbara was the youngest of eight children; siblings Kathy, Terry, Cheryl, Debbie, Pam, Lynda and Lori.

Mother to Danielle Munroe [46], Michelle (Mike) Lamb [43] and Deanna Doede [37]. Grandmother to Logan Gayer [23], Rylee Lorenz [22] and Ava Lamb [18].

Barb was a licensed cosmetologist and business owner (Nail Fantasy, Not Just Nails, The Nail Room), committed to her passion and clientele as she worked as a nail technician for 45 years. While her talent made her successful, it was truly her relationships and love for her clients that made her career so fulfilling.

She enjoyed being outdoors in the sun, feeding the birds and squirrels, reading a good book, gardening and herbology, being by the ocean, and practicing her faith. She loved to travel; taking cruises with her sisters and many memorable trips with her children and grandchildren. She was a great cook and a loving mother, although she would argue with you about that on both fronts.

She had a special bond with her nieces and nephews, every one of them has a favorite “Aunt Barbie” story. The relationships that she created with her grandchildren was one of a kind and her greatest treasure. From making them breakfast and birthday dinners, baking cookies and hosting friend-group movie nights, to dancing at concerts and taking road trips; she was their best friend. She was their GB.

She found comfort in the walls of Calvary Baptist Church and closeness with her pastor Billy Walker. She was a woman of faith and not afraid to seek forgiveness and salvation. Barb prayed often and felt a calling to help others and the less fortunate.

She was strong. She was a warrior and medical anomaly through her final breath. She survived open heart surgery as a young child, defeated breast cancer once and worked tirelessly ever since for more time with her loved ones. In the end, she was battling breast cancer again, fighting liver disease, and in recovery after suffering a sudden brain aneurysm and emergency surgery. She passed away peacefully at 11:11 PM at Henry Ford Hospital ICU in Detroit surrounded by her three daughters.

Barb loved her children, grandchildren and fur-grandbabies more than anything. She will forever be remembered for the love that she had for her family and children, for her overflowing love and presence in her grandchildren's lives as their GB, and for her faith in and relationship with God.

In her final days, she was in the presence of the love and laughter of close family members. A memorial service at Calvary Church and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared by the family with more information once finalized.

If you'd like to send a plant, please consider choosing an outdoor plant that can be planted in her butterfly garden. She loved spending time outdoors and caring for her garden, so it would mean a lot. We kindly ask that no cut flowers or indoor plants be sent, as she truly appreciated anything that could continue to grow and bloom outside.
