Family Tribute ~
Douglas was born, raised and very proud to be working and serving in Wyandotte. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and was very active with their rowing team. After high school he continued his education at Eastern Michigan University and Wayne State University, where he received his Bachelors degree in Mathematics.
Douglas successfully ran and owned Milkins Jewelers in Wyandotte for 50 years, which is now in its fifth generation of business. He also used his excellent leadership skills in the following positions; President for Wyandotte Merchants Association (1972-1973), President for Wyandotte Rotary Club (1978-1979), President for Michigan Jewelers Association (1980-1982), Board member for Michigan Retailers Association (1983-1986), Board member and executive committee-member for Jewelers of America (1987-1993), Trustee for the Henry Ford Health System (2001-2009) and Chairman of the board for Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital (2004-2009). Douglas enjoyed rowing, tennis, golfing and traveling. He was a smart, caring and curious man with a dry sense of humor. He had a huge heart, especially for animals. He loved all creatures, both great and small.
A Celebration of Life for Douglas William Milkins will be held at a later date.

Our History
John Molnar, Sr. opened the Detroit Hungarian Funeral Home, now the Molnar Funeral Homes, in 1923. The funeral home began in his home until relocating across the street to it's Delray location at 8623 Dearborn Avenue, in 1936. He had a strong work ethic and believed that you should never stop learning...
