Obituary of Harish P. Jethwa
November 7, 1944 - January 10, 2026
Harish Jethwa. Age 81 of Woodhaven.
Harish Jethwa, a devoted husband, loving father, and pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026. Born in Ghoghla, Diu, India, to the late Parmanand and Santokben Jethwa, he was raised in Vadodara, where the roots of his discipline, devotion, and compassion were planted. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Maharaja Sayajirao University Polytechnic before continuing his journey across the world.
In 1975, Harish came to the United States in pursuit of higher education, earning his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy. He went on to dedicate over 30 years to Detroit Edison, as a Mechanical Engineer. Alongside his career, he built a successful life as a motel owner for more than 40 years, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit.
Above all, Harish was a family man. He shared over 45 beautiful years with his beloved late wife, Bharti, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life. He was a proud and devoted father to his son, Dharam, guiding him with patience, strength, and unwavering love.
Harish gave generously to his community, serving as President of the Gujarati Samaj of Detroit in 1989 and 1990 and helping bring the FOGANA National Competition to Detroit in 1990. He was a founding Board of Trustee member of the Hindu Temple of Canton and played a vital role in establishing the Hindu Temple Senior Group. In recognition of his lifelong service, he received the Mother India International Award in 1995.
He is lovingly remembered by his son Dharam; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents, his beloved wife Bharti, and his siblings Chunilal, Jayantilal, Manjula, Anil, and Ramesh.
Harish was known for his kindness, service to others, and deep spirituality. He lived by the values of family, faith, honesty, and service. To all who knew him, he was a man who tried always to do the right thing — offering warmth, wisdom, and a steady, generous heart. His legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in every life he touched.
