~ Family Tribute ~
Nancy Lou Brooks was born on May 19, 1936 in Ferndale, Michigan, to June and Douglas Souter.

She was joined five years later by her little sister, Sandra. She graduated in June of 1954 from Lincoln High School, where she was involved in clubs and a helpful classmate as a "Hall Guide". Married William Herman Brooks the following year on April 2, 1955 by Pastor Eugene Clark at Grace Baptist Church. She spent 5 years working for the department store, Hudson's and a few other jobs, but then spent a great deal of her life dedicated and serving as a wife to William and mother to five boys.

Nancy was a lover of "all creatures great and small", always having furry companions at home. She shared her love for crocheting and her Scottish family's shortbread. She was faithful to attending church services at Gethsemane Baptist Church and some years with Twelve Ryan Missionary Baptist Church. Her bible verse she often quoted is, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
