Family Tribute
The lifelong journey of Beatrice Helen Smith began on July 31, 1930 in Massachusetts, born to Ada Monty and Reginald Snow Stevens. Her childhood years took her on several journeys through adoption, and trying times. Bea spent the majority of her formative years with her grandparents, David and Edith Smith; being raised with her sister of the heart, Shirley. She eventually settled in Dearborn, where she met the first lasting love of her life, Michael Charles Eory.
Michael, known as Mickey by family and friends, made Bea his young bride and the couple laid down their roots in the Downriver region of metropolitan Detroit. Mickey worked in the auto parts industry while Bea set up shop as a Mother and homemaker.
Motherhood began with the birth of their first child, Gerald, and eventually to the large and loving family that numbered ten people. The children, in order, included Michael, Brenda,
Thom, Janet, Laura, Paul, and Joel. The many family gatherings brought Bea’s maternal duties to camping Up North in the family pop-up trailer and other travel destinations across Michigan and beyond.
Sadly, Mickey passed away in 1994, creating a deep void in Bea’s life. She was fortunate to turn a friendship with a man named George Price into a romance and the two wed in 1998. Together they enjoyed being a part of local seniors groups, often attending dinner dances and taking bus trips to the casino and Mackinac Island. Bea enjoyed playing Bunko, Bingo and Left Right Center, always having fun while playing for the win. George and Bea were happily married until her passing.
Thanks to her large and loving family, “Grandma Bea” as she was affectionately called, was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. She loved them all with a kind and giving heart; always ready to dish out candy and treats when she could. Bea has left a lasting legacy and will be missed by all those, family and friends alike, who had the privilege of knowing her.
