Obituary of Nancy D. Rose
July 21, 1940 - February 20, 2026
Nancy D. Rose. Age 85 of Wyandotte.
Nancy Dale Yocum Rose passed away on February 20, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin Leo Rose, and by ten of her eleven siblings. She is survived by her sister, Barbara (Yocum) Helton.
Nancy leaves behind her two daughters, Barbara (Rose) Kozak and her husband Kevin, and Cathy (Rose) Young. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Paul and Genevieve Kozak, and to Gavin Young.
Nancy treasured watching Paul play sports and delighted in seeing Genevieve dance. Though miles separated her from Gavin, she faithfully stayed connected through phone calls and handwritten cards that carried her love across the distance.
In 1972, Nancy and Marty made their home in a small bungalow on Clinton Street in Wyandotte. It was the house she cherished and remained in for more than five decades. Within those walls, holidays were celebrated, grandchildren were welcomed, and memories were stitched together as carefully as one of her sewing projects. She never wished to leave the home she and Marty built together, finding comfort in the life they shared there.
Nancy devoted herself first and foremost to her family as a homemaker. After Martin’s passing in 1987, she stepped into the workforce and was employed at the Kids R Us distribution center until retiring at age 65.
A true homebody, Nancy found joy in life’s simple comforts: sewing, working puzzles, reading, and sharing occasional lunches with dear friends. Over the years, she watched her neighborhood grow and change, seeing generations of children play along the same street. With her familiar wit, she would smile and say, “Everything old is new again, except me, of course.”
In September 2019, Nancy became seriously ill and faced heart and kidney challenges with quiet resilience. In her final years, she leaned on the love of her family, who remained by her side.
Nancy will be remembered for her steady devotion, her enduring love for home and family, and the quiet strength that carried her through life’s many seasons.
