Family Tribute ~
Donald W. Cash “Cash man”.
Donald grew up in River Rouge, Michigan and graduated from River Rouge High School in 1965. He played baseball and football, and was a pretty good gymnast. He joined the Marine Corp. in 1967, fought in the Vietnam War, obtained many medals and was a Corporal when he was honorably discharged in 1972. He had many exciting stories of his time away. He was a proud Marine. He married and started a family and eventually made his home in Woodhaven, Michigan.
Donald took many underpaid welding jobs to gain experience welding, which paid off in 1976 when he was hired at Ford Motor Company. He was issued his Journeyman card in 1980 and became a tool and die welder. He worked at the Woodhaven Stamping Plant for 35 years until he retired.
Donald really liked cars, the hotrods, and the race cars. He had a GTX and a Corvette over the years. Also enjoyed his Lincolns, Mark IV, Mark V and a Lincoln Blackwood Truck. He was also a coin collector. He enjoyed working puzzles and loved watching old Western movies. He was quite the handyman around the house, electrical, plumbing, you name it, he could fix it.
A kind man, Donald rarely raised his voice, almost never became angry. He was punctual, yet liked to take his time, and didn’t want to be rushed. He enjoyed his morning coffee and reading his Bible. He loved good conversation. One of his favorite things to do was sit on his sun porch and watch the birds at his bird feeder. He took pride in his home and yard, it was always tidy.
Donald would want to be remembered for loving his family so dearly—his children, his grandchildren—they meant the world to him, his kind and generous spirit.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him!
