Obituary of Helen Karafotis

Helen Karafotis. Age 80 of Allen Park.
Helen Karafotis, a devoted homemaker, passed away peacefully in Allen Park, MI on March 19th 2026 at the age of 80. Born in Greece, Helen dedicated her life to creating a close-knit, well kept home for her family. She was known for her cooking and gardening, qualities she was proud to have. Whether she was cleaning the house, going to church, tending to her flowers in the backyard or cooking Pastitsio for her family, Helen did it with perfection.
She is survived by her children, George (Stacy) Karafotis and Tina Larsen (the late Steve Danich); grandchildren, Nicholas Larsen, Andrew Larsen, Eleni Danich, Dino Karafotis, and Lucy Karafotis; her sister Maria (the late George) Zalmas; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gust Karafotis; mother & father, Dina & Nick Palyvos; and brothers, Taki Palyvos, Chris Palyvos, Gus Palyvos, and Jim Palyvos.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Monday March 23, 2026 from 10:00am to 12:00pm with the service at 12:00pm at St George Greek Orthodox Church 16300 Dix Toledo Rd, Southgate MI 48195. Interment Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
