Family Tribute ~
Richard (Dick) Fekete was born and raised in Delray, Michigan. He married his high school sweetheart, Lenore, and they were married for over 62 years at the time of his death. Dick was a devoted husband and loving father, as well as a proud grandpa. Faith and family were central to who he was.
Dick graduated from Lutheran West High School in 1959. He attended Central Michigan for a year and then received his bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University in 1969. Dick worked at Ford Motor Company for over 30 years and traveled extensively for them towards the end of his career, visiting nine different countries. He retired in 2002.
Dick was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Trenton, Michigan for over 50 years. He was an elder and usher for many years and also served a term as Chairman of the Congregation. Dick was instrumental in starting the youth basketball team at St. Paul, played on the men’s softball team, and served as President of the St. Paul golf league for several years.
Dick enjoyed traveling. Disney World and Sanibel Island were favorite vacationing spots when his children were young, and he had the opportunity to make memories at both of those destinations with his grandchildren. After retirement, he and Lenore traveled to Europe multiple times. Highlights of those trips were a river boat cruise down the Rhine and sailing on the Queen Mary back to the States from England.
Dick was an avid Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan fan. He was always getting ready to buy his World Series tickets anytime the Tigers won a game. He made many memories tailgating with family and friends at University of Michigan football games.
