Family Tribute ~
Maria Ana Alcantar dedicated her life to loving God, her family, and friends since her birth on July 26th, 1934, in Guadalajara, Mexico. After a long life of serving as the heart and soul of her family, Ana, at 91 years old, passed away surrounded by loved ones on May 2nd, 2026.
Ana was never short of love. In Mexico, she was the middle child of two sisters, Angelina and Marta, who knew Ana for her passionate temper. This earned her the nickname “La Leona.” Ana’s fervor caught the attention of her late husband, Louis Alcantar, when they became pen pals, despite living in different countries. Never allowing anything to hinder her devotion, La Leona traveled to the United States and started a new life with Louis. Here, she created a beautiful family, including Alex, Anna Bernice, Paul, and Louise, raising them as devout Catholics.
Ana loved to sew, participate in any group activity she could, and watch her Detroit Tigers. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. As a homemaker and truly kindhearted person, Ana was easy to love and remember.
