Obituary of AnnaMae Contratto

July 24, 1935 - June 23, 2026

AnnaMae Contratto.  Age 90 of Woodhaven.

Beloved wife of the late Clarence. Loving mother of Thomas (Paula) Contratto, Cindy (Dale) Knapp, and Ted Contratto. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 11 granddogs.

Family Tribute ~

AnnaMae was born on July 24th, 1935 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania.  The family then moved to Dearborn, Michigan. Anna had three brothers: Ed, Tony and Walter.  She also had four sisters: Felecia, Marie, Theresa, and a baby sister who passed away of Dysteria.  She continued to grow  up and finally met the love of her life, Clarence. From there, it was magical. She met Clarence at the Old Train Station in Detroit. She was on her way to Put in Bay with her girlfriends. They dated, then exchanged wedding vows on August 22, 1953.  They had three children: Tom, Cindy, and Ted. They had a wonderful marriage that stood the test of time.  As her husband, Clarence, studied politics and became more involved as union representative, Anna held down the fort and did most of the raising of us. Along with raising her children, she had many hobbies. She enjoyed exercise classes with her sisters, Marie and Theresa. She loved cross country skiing in the winter.  We often called them The Three Musketeers. She loved golfing with her grandkids and taught them the game. She loved playing Bingo, arts and crafts and made many beautiful things. She loved baking, cooking, especially for the holidays.  Family meant everything to her. AnnaMae was a hard working woman, a devoted wife and mother.  She had the biggest heart. She had a smile that was so infectious, no matter where she went, everyone noticed. 

AnnaMae had a total of six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Lets not forget her granddogs, eleven to be exact! Anna was a wonderful mother, wife, grandma and great grandma. She simply loved and lived for her family. 

We look forward to the day when we can see her and hug her tight.  Although losing her was heartbreaking, the goodness of God was always evident through the storm. Heaven gained an angel. We will always keep you close now, but you live forever in our hearts. Until we meet again, we will love you beyond time, beyond words and beyond life. Fly high, dad, Ted, your parents and family are waiting, your fur babies too.  Rest in Eternal Peace Mom.
