Obituary of Geraldine E. Little

October 16, 1933 - June 25, 2026

Geraldine Elsie (Cutter) Little. Age 92 of Clinton Township.

Geraldine (Jerry, Gerri, Geri) E. Little was a giver, she gave her time, she gave her friendship, she gave most of her worldly processions to family, friends, her community, her church, and even strangers. She was always thinking of the person at the other end of the conversation. Just like her mother, Emily (Olszkiewicz) Cutter, her passion for Christ and her willingness to serve others became her defining legacy.

Geraldine was, in the truest sense, everyone's favorite aunt, not because she tried to be, but because she could not help it. She remembered every birthday without a reminder, knew every family secret without being told, and always supported family and friends on their special days and holidays. Geraldine loved to travel and to be outdoors. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends outside at picnics, sightseeing, and attending events for her niece and nephew when they were younger, and most recently for their children (great niece and nephews) and their children (great-great niece and nephews). She loved to take long driving trips to see the sights around the country and especially through the beautiful Michigan countryside to see the changing of the colors in the fall.

Geraldine E. Little was born October 16, 1933, in Woburn, MA to Edwin and Emily Cutter. Her family moved to Roseville, MI when she was a small child. Her spiritual foundation in Christ began at Sacred Heart Catholic community where she learned to love and serve the less fortunate at an early age. She was raised in a close-knit family surrounded by her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and her brother, Edwin Jr. Through this bond, she was nurtured with love and taught the importance of kindness and compassion. Her steadfast faith in Christ remained a beacon of light throughout her Lifetime.

Geraldine was the first in her family to attend college as she earned her BS in Home Economics from the Michigan State College in 1955, (Michigan State University today). She met her lifelong girlfriends in college, and they became travel partners for the rest of their lives. After working jobs that did not interest her and her girlfriends, they decided to take their first adventure and travel all the way to the Bay Area of San Francisco, CA where she met the love of her life, James F. Little. After a short romance they were married in December of 1959 and lived in Menlo Park, CA. There they enjoyed each other and all that California has to offer a young couple in love. However, after only a few short years of marriage Geraldine faced her biggest tragedy when Jim had an unexpected heart attack and passed away while visiting her family in Michigan. After losing Jim, Geraldine moved back to Michigan to be closer to family and started to focus on her career, first at Kelly Girl Service Inc. (aka Kelly girls) as a temp. Her attention to detail and her love for working with numbers was rewarded when General Motors (GM) asked her to become a full-time employee. Geraldine thrived at GM and enjoyed her job, retiring after 30 plus years.

Geraldine’s faith has never wavered, but her choice of congregations did as she lived in River Rouge, MI for many years and then she retired and moved to Southgate, MI. Geraldine was a member of the Glenwood United Methodist Church, and most recently, the Wyandotte First United Methodist Church (UMC) in Wyandotte, MI. At Wyandotte First UMC Geraldine was active in fund raising activities like the Maurice Salad sales which she organized and managed for many years as well as assisting with the finance committee. Geraldine so enjoyed helping and spending time with her church family and friends. She was known for her long-time membership in the United Methodist Women’s organization and for giving someone a ride whenever she was available.

Geraldine Elsie (Cutter) Little, 92, of Southgate, MI, passed away on June 25th, 2026. Born on October 16th,1933 in Woburn, MA. 

She is survived by her brother (Edwin O. Cutter Jr.), her niece and nephews (Vickie Jo Schmidt), Edwin O. Cutter III (Terri North) and Jason C. Hartless (Shelly), her great nieces and great nephews (Shawn Schmidt, Jennifer Snead (Owen), Ryan Cutter, Jason M. Hartless, and Cassidy Hartless), her great-great nieces and nephews ( Jax Schmidt , Evelyn Snead, Finn Snead, and Oliver Snead), and the many friends who simply called her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Little, and her parents, Edwin and Emily Cutter. 

A funeral visitation will be held at Molnar Funeral Home – Nixon Location on July 16th, 2026 from 3 to 8 pm, followed by a service of resurrection and lunch at Wyandotte First United Methodist Church in Wyandotte, MI on July 17th, 2026, viewing starting at 10:30 am, service at 11 am and lunch to follow at the church.
