Obituary of Ted Dull

 

January 17, 1934 – July 3, 2023

 

Ted Dull.  Age 89 of Riverview.

 

Beloved husband of Alice Dull.  Loving father of Debora Sonnenberg, Theodore Frank Dull, Philip (Carol) Duell, David (Lori) Dull, Gregory (Michelle) Dull and the late Jason Dull.  Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

 

Cremation will take place at The On-Site Crematory located within the Molnar Funeral Homes - Brownstown Chapel.

 

 

 

Family Tribute

Ted had a love for baseball.  He played for the American Legion in 1951.  He was in the All-Star lineup.  He played for the Catholic Youth Organization in 1948, they were champions.  He played catcher.  He played while attending high school at, Our Lady of the Lourdes.  He was presented with plaque Walter (Spike) Briggs for outstanding achievement as a baseball player.  Major league scouts had been casting their eyes on young Ted.  He batted .375 for Lourdes taking them to the League Championship. Ted graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes in 1954 in River Rouge, MI.

He was offered to play with the Detroit Tigers, but his manager told him to wait for the Cleveland Indians.  Then he was drafted into the Army.  He entered the army in 1955-1957.  He was a tank commander in Japan and Korea for 18 months.

Ted never got to play professional ball.  He bought the Oakwood Blue Jackets bowling alley in 1972.  He owned it for 25 years selling it in 1997.  He loved bowling and was good at it.  He also golfed and played hockey.  He was a deer hunter too.  He loved his family and life.  Ted was married to his wife Alice for 68 years. Through their union they were blessed with 6 children, 18 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.  Ted had a full and beautiful life.  He also coached his sons in baseball and hockey.
