~ Family Tribute ~

Born in Tabora, Tanzania, Malkeet was the ninth child of 10 offspring born to S. Bakhtawar Singh and Amar Kaur. Malkeet was eager to learn and grew up to earn 3 degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education and Master in English) in India. She worked as a High School Teacher at Sacred Heart Public School Amritsar, Punjab. Later she changed careers and worked for Bank of India for 24 years in Amritsar, Punjab.

Malkeet had many lucky draws in her life starting with winning a bicycle at ten years of age at a local fair in Tabora. Later her name was drawn in the US diversity Visa program which enabled her family to immigrate to the U.S.A in 2006. She worked at NYX as an HR Coordinator for 8 years.

Malkeet had a calm demeanour and an eye for fashion. She enjoyed getting ready and was always dressed to the nines. People around her were impressed with her sense of style and asked her for ideas and suggestions. Along with physical beauty, Malkeet was blessed with a heart of pure gold in which she included people from all walks of life. Her ability to keep in touch with all her friends all over the world was remarkable!

Friends of Malkeet were able to confide in her since she was a great listener and displayed a genuine empathy for others. As a sister, Malkeet regularly made an effort to keep in touch with all of her siblings and went out of her way to support them in their time of need.

Malkeet had many talents such as singing hymns, playing her keyboard, and creating beautiful cards on the computer to make others feel special on their special days.

Malkeet did not let her medical challenges limit her ability to do things that she desired to do. She strived to do better each time. This has made her a positive role model for her family and grandkids. We feel very privileged to have had the great fortune to have her in our lives.

Malkeet was an epitome of honesty, respect and responsibility. She was a devoted wife to Mr. Amrik Singh Sandhu for 44 years. She acknowledged the fact that without his kindness and caring support, she would not have been able to fulfil her desires.

We are going to miss this beautiful, selfless, caring soul who was always concerned for other people’s wellbeing. We sincerely hope that she will remain a shining star in our lives, inspiring and guiding us to always do better.
