Family Tribute

Roseanna, or as everyone knew and called her, Roseann, was born on October 24, 1933, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She was an only child to Olindo and Eleanor Mattei. They later moved to Michigan where her father worked as a salt and coal miner and her mother as a line worker manufacturing WWII military planes. Roseann graduated from Fordson High School in 1953. She worked at Delray Bakery in Dearborn performing payroll duties. She enrolled in college for 2 years at Henry Ford, majoring in Business Administration. In 1957, she met her husband Ferdinando (Fred) where he was establishing his own business, Roma Pizzeria in Southgate. They married in 1958 and went and went on to have a beautiful family with 6 children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Roseanna was a caring, thoughtful, loving, and devoted daughter, wife, mother, noni, and great-noni.

She was a fun-spirited, down to earth, friendly woman. She loved to joke around, but most importantly she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren…they were her life!

My mom enjoyed traveling with my dad to many destinations and their vacation homes. She loved to cook. She enjoyed decorating and made holidays special. My mom and dad enjoyed dancing and were quite a pair on the dance floor. My mom was such a generous woman, she would always welcome everyone into her home as if she was their second mother. She was also a very religious lady, in her faith and often saying prayers.

My mom was truly a remarkable woman who was filled with unconditional love and much strength. She always put everyone before herself.

On July 26, 2023, my parents celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary. God has blessed them in many ways.

Dear Mom, we honestly don’t know how we will get by

without your beaming smiles, jokes, and hugs. You will be so missed.

You taught us how to live life to the fullest but not without you!!

Forever more in our hearts…
