FAMILY TRIBUTE On November 12, 1965 Ann Marie Merritt was born the youngest child in a sibship of three to Janice Kay (Smith) Merritt and Wallace W. Merritt of Wyandotte, Michigan. From the very beginning, Annie, in a nutshell, was charming. She had a beautiful smile, an endearing giggle, and a wonderful sense of humor that served her well over the next 51 years. She attended the Wyandotte Public and Catholic Schools, graduating from Gabriel Richard High School. She attended college and eventually settled in Connecticut where she gave birth to her son, the light of her life, Nicholas Daniel Campisi. Ann spent her work years helping persons with mental illness and developmental disabilities live their lives to the fullest. When her own physical challenges made it impossible for her to continue her work, she engaged that sense of humor to persevere beyond comprehension. Her friends describe her as “a ray of sunshine,” “beautiful,” “a smile that could light up a room.” She was a cherished part of so many lives. Annie deeply and truly loved her friends and family. Annie was a rare gift to us. Through her illness she taught us patience, she taught us courage, she taught us acceptance. She lived with grace and dignity no matter what was around the next corner always with charm, always with faith, always with humor. You will be missed our dear sweet Ann Marie. The most wasted of all days is one without laughter. E.E. Cummings
