Obituary of Ruth C. Esau

July 2, 1927 - May 18, 2017

Ruth C. Esau, Age 89 of Wyandotte.

Beloved wife of the late Marlin "Bud" Esau. Loving mother of Dr. Shari Esau, Larry (Cheryl) Esau, Steven (Roberta) Esau, Carolyn Esau, and Eric (Erin) Esau. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Ruth was a volunteer of the ladies auxiliary group at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital for over 25 years and during that time she also served as President. She was also a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverview and a fan of the Detroit Tigers.

FAMILY TRIBUTE
Ruth was born in Detroit. She graduated from Western High School in 1945. In 1947, she married Marlin (Bud) Esau. They were married for almost 70 years. They had 5 children (Sharon, Larry, Steve, Carolyn and Eric), 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Ruth worked for the News Herald as a typesetter for 21 years, retiring in 1990. After she retried, she volunteered as a Pink Lady in the Wyandotte Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church (now Unity) and served the Church in a number of areas over the years.

Ruth was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers for most of her life. She rarely missed a game. She also loved traveling, crocheting, quilting and reading.

Ruth was proud of her children and their accomplishments, but modest about her own. In 1991, she was named Immanuel Lutheran Church’s Woman of the Year and in 2008 received the Star of Excellence from the Hospital Auxiliary for her volunteer Service.
