Obituary of Julia Bigler

Mrs. Julia Frances Bigler, age 97, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020. She was born January 7, 1923 in Arkansas to Paul James David and Sulu McGill David.  Mrs. Bigler grew up in Memphis, TN and worked as a teller for National Bank of Memphis where she met her husband. She married Lt. John H. Bigler on February 7, 1945. Shortly, thereafter, they moved to Wyandotte, MI where they raised their family. While in Elkin, NC she attended Elkin Valley Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Bigler, who passed away November 2, 1977; sister, Jeanne Avonne David Stevens and brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas Stevens of Knoxville, TN.

Survivors include: children, John David Bigler and wife Cheryl of Rose City, MI, Susan Bigler Lee and husband Merle of Knoxville, TN; Patricia Bigler Crosswhite and husband Jesse of Elkin, NC, Paul Clarence Bigler and wife Sherry of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, John J. Bigler and wife Stephanie, David T. Bigler, Heather Bigler Hager, Ric A. Lee and wife Heather, Daniel J. Lee and wife Michelle, Jessica Crosswhite Pahl and husband Garet, Julia Crosswhite Bryant and husband Brandon, Matthew H. Crosswhite and wife Megan, Benjamin E. Crosswhite and wife Amanda, Randy Bigler, Jennifer Bigler Bastecki and husband Travis, Amanda Bigler, Madison Bigler, Mallory Bigler; step-grandchildren, Codi Donovan, Cali Donovan, Chelsea D. Lethgo and husband John; 25 great-grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 28, 2020 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Molnar Nixon Funeral Home, Wyandotte, MI. A short service will follow at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Blount of Heritage Church, Imlay City, MI and Ms. Cris Stevens of Global Golf Ministries, Knoxville, TN officiating. Burial will follow in Ferndale Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to The Salvation Army, 651 S. South Street, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.

The family would like to thank her friends at Maple Ridge Apartments; Mrs. Crosswhite’s former Elkin High School student caregivers; Elkin Valley Baptist Church; West Main Street neighbors; Mountain Valley Hospice; and caregivers, Pam Golden, Brenda Tews, and Crystal Hutchens for their care, love, and support.
