Family Tribute
Tony attended St. Anne’s, St. Boniface in Detroit and Chadsey High School before graduating in 1963. Afterward, he went on to attend Wayne State University and Henry Ford Community College to pursue a Computer Science degree. He then became a graduate of Davenport University where he achieved a degree in accounting.
He worked at Ford Motor Company for 38 years. He worked within the steel division as a maintenance electrician for 18 of those years and then as a purchasing agent before his retirement in 2009.
Tony did not want to be drafted so he decided to enlist from 1966 to 1969. He attended basic training and Officer's Candidate School, where he almost made it to the end. He was assigned to Fort Dix to be in charge of a platoon, then Fort Meyer, Virginia as an Infantryman. He ended up as a specialist clerk-typist at Headquarters Company, Fort Meyer, where he met Phyllis who was in the army too! Ultimately, he ended up retiring at A.P. Hill in Virginia.
He was involved with several organizations throughout his life. While his sons were in school, he was a Webelo and a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. He was also an Officer for the Knights of Columbus and participated in the Single Action Shooting Society. Additionally, he was a Eucharistic Minister and Usher at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Tony had many hobbies and interests. He loved gardening and growing tomatoes. He could be found reading science fiction or western novels as well as watching old-time movies and lots of television shows. Being a numbers person, he enjoyed sudoku puzzles. He liked to work with leather, listen to music and go to the theater.
However, his biggest hobby over the last 21 years was Cowboy Shooting with S.A.S.S. and traveling all around Michigan and the states. He was very proud of competing in different categories such as shooting accuracy and timing. He won several matches and holds the state champion title for Michigan - in Senior Frontier Cartridge category as Poco Loco.
Tony was known as being very mild going, liked to fix problems, and loving his family, especially his grandkids. He was always very honest and dedicated.
He would have liked to be remembered for his honesty, his spirituality, for being logical and for his willingness to help others.
We will always remember him for his sense of humor and ability to crack jokes at a moment's notice, being a romantic at heart and for his overall great personality. We will also remember him as being a wonderful dad, husband, grandfather, great-granddad and his love of life!
