Family Tribute

Wilma was in the first graduating class of Shafter High School in 1960, located in Southgate. Over the years, she maintained ties with her high school friends for frequent alumni and reunion get-togethers.

She worked for and retired from FedEx. Wilma was an active member of a senior travel club, Window’s club and would meet regularly with friends and family. She could make friends wherever she went. She was known to be very social and fiercely independent. She also had a sharp sense of humor and was always joking around and making people smile.

Wilma loved her family and grandchildren. Hosting Christmas every year was a great joy to her. She also loved traveling, cruises, casinos and shopping trips with her friends. Traveling to Alaska became one of her favorite trips. She had a deep and long-time love of reading.

Additionally, she loved to help out her son Dan’s comic shop during events such as “Free Comic Book Day” where she would act as “head of security.” She loved meeting everyone, being a part of the community, and seeing all the kids in costume.

She will always be remembered for her love of life, infectious smile, and generous heart.
