Mabel Kathrine Johnson.  Age 92 of Southgate.

Mabel Kathrine Johnson was born on August 12, 1927 in WV and passed away peacefully on April 19, 2020 in Haslett MI at the age 92.

She lived her childhood years in Morehead, KY then moved to the Detroit area after WWII where she found the love of her life in Robert Johnson Sr.  Together they had two children and lived happily in Southgate, where she continued to reside for over 60 years.

Mabel began her career as a telephone operator at Michigan Bell (AT&T) and later became one of the first women trainer/managers in the state of Michigan.  She loved the travel her work provided and took great pride in her 37 years of dedication to a company she respected.

Mabel loved to bike ride, play tennis, cross country ski, walk, exercise and tell stories.  She spent many summers in Myrtle Beach, NC where she loved walking on the beach, being with her friends and family and feeling the warm sun on her face.

Anyone who knew Mabel remembers how much she loved Detroit sports.  Some of her loved ones fondest memories are of watching the Lions and Tigers games with her and listening to her colorful commentary.

She is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Sue (Early), husband Robert Sr., sisters Ray and Helen, daughter Karen, son Robert and granddaughter Michelle.  She will be dearly missed by her daughter in law Mary, niece Donna, nephew Billy, her 7 grandchildren, Tim (Sarah-Beth), Brooke (Jon), Jack, and Jacob (Erica) and 6 great grandchildren, Lavinia, Marianne, Felix, Aeris, Oliveene and Kellan, who brought her immense joy, as well as extended family and dear friends. We will all remember her warm smiles, beautiful laugh, lively spirit and sweet southern accent, which always made you feel at home.
