Obituary of Colleen Mary Dobos
February 8, 1929 - May 10, 2020
Colleen M. Dobos. Age 91 of Riverview.
Colleen passed peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2020 at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Brownstown Township under the care of Elara Caring Hospice. She was born on February 8, 1929 in Detroit to James and Norah (Holton) McNish and was raised with the help of stepfather Herman Walkoff. Her early adult years were busy as a Licensed Practical Nurse and mother to six children. She deeply missed Joseph, her beloved husband of forty-seven years, who preceded her in death twenty years ago.
Colleen was full of energy and brought a smile and a laugh to those who knew her. She wore sparkly gold nail polish because it matched her personality. She loved ballet and tap dance and could be found skating at the ice rink. She first competed at age 59 and skated until she was 80. She demonstrated selfless love and was a Eucharistic Minister at St Cyprians Catholic Church in Riverview.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Noreen (Al) Porchia and Ireen (Jim) Brayman. She is survived by her stepsisters, Mary Jane McNish and Anne (David) Vonk and stepbrother Jim (Susan) McNish; her children, Mark, Paula (Chet) Klimowicz, Marsha (Frank) Trudeau, Paul (Cheryl), Marti (Ozzie) Tomiak and Matthew (Dianne); grandchildren, Erik (Amanda), Ashley (Jeremy), Brittni (Dave), Alyssa, Michelle, Shae (Nic), Shannon, Nathan, Noah, Nora, Elijah, Clara and Abbie; and greatgrandchildren, Charlotte, Brian and Leana.
Cremation will take place at The On-Site Crematory located within the Molnar Funeral Homes - Brownstown Chapel.
A memorial Mass and celebration of Colleen’s life will be held later this summer.
Memorial contributions are appreciated to Elara Caring Hospice Foundation of Michigan, 900 Cooper Street, Jackson, MI 49202.
