She was Mom to so many of us who lived in the Vernor & Springwells Detroit area. Worked forever at City coney island greeting everyone with the most beautiful smile , her love came from within and shined right out to all of us ! if you were hungry with no money you were going to eat if she had to take it out of her tip jar, I remember her dipping in it many times. Not only that , Her family was my family She suffered much loss but never stopped caring & loving all of us who grew up there. I honor her today and send much love and prayers to Marcy & Bob. RIP Mrs. Cunningham (Mom) I hope you knew what a special woman you were to many of us :(

Dorothy was a great part of my growing up in SW. My girlfriend and I would go to City Coney everyday day, that was our local hangout. She was the best at serving us, chatting, laughing at us and with us and gave us the best advice, whether we asked for it or not....RIP Dorothy, I'm sure you're going to me missed my many, and you are one of my best memories of growing up in SWD on Vernor Hwy.

I am Dorothy's niece by her brother Richard. She came into my life after the passing of my mother in 1995. She and my mother were friends when they were teenagers. She said Mommy left her here to take care of me and she did. She was always there for me just like a mother would and like a mother she would tell me things I didn't want to hear and just like my own mother I soon found out she was right. Dorothy never met a stranger and loved everyone. Just as David was her adopted son I was her daughter. She brought love and happiness to my life. I hugged her before she left Christiansburg and said I'll never see you again Dorothy C and she said yes you will. "Until we meet again Dorothy C"

I remember you saying that, it broke my heart then and still does now. She loved you so so so very much. I’ve heard her talk about it so many times. I hope you knew that and always remember it. I know your heart is just as broken as ours. Sending love from her granddaughter Mariah.

Dear Family, Friends, and Relatives of Dorothy Cunningham, I am your adopted family member that Dorothy graciously included me to be a part of, no matter how small the part. She called me son. I called her Mom #2, oftentimes without the #2 indicated. Why not? Moms are always a #1. I met this sweet lady years ago as a younger man going through my own trials and tribulations. But, GOD sent me this angel in a way you would never have thought. She backed into a pickup I had and dented the passenger door. Of course, I overlooked it, but she earnestly wanted me to forgive her. So, meals and invitations to eat with her were frequent over the years as a form of payment. We shared TV shows, family activities, helped one another, and read the Bible quite frequently. Ah, the joy of conversation with a dear friend! Take pride in what you remember of her. Moms are few and hard to come by such as Dorothy. Though I am not there to shake a hand and extend my heartfelt condolences. I am there in spirit. As Dorothy would say, “I love you. Come by and see me”. Well, Mom, the heavenly skies await you! I will see you there. Love, your Son, Dave
