Family Remembrance

Gene Frailey was born on July 30, 1930 in Herrick, Illinois and moved to the Detroit area when he was a teenager.  He was drafted by the United States Army in 1951 and spent the next fifteen months serving in the Korean War as a MASH unit medic in the 1st Cavalry division of the 5th Cavalry regiment.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the military with the rank of sergeant, he worked as a Teamster truck driver for over thirty years.  Gene and Dodi were married on August 17th 1963.  They raised their six children in Taylor, Michigan. Gene was a family man who loved being surrounded by his children, Deb, Steve, Dave, Kelley, Tami and Robin. His three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Branden and Alexandra were the apples of his eye.  He was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Rufus and Kai.

He was the greatest of tinkerers, spending an inordinate amount of time puttering in his beloved garage and garden while mostly listening to country music, which was his favorite. Gene believed that there wasn't much that a good roll of Duct tape couldn't fix. Gene loved his country and the Red, White and Blue, the Detroit Tigers, John Wayne, a good dessert and his family. And we loved him too.
