Family Tribute

Sanja grew up in Wyandotte, Michigan the youngest of two sisters. She was born on July 15th, 1974. She had one sibling, her older sister Diana.

She went to Wyandotte Roosevelt high school where she played varsity basketball, volleyball, and softball. She graduated from Roosevelt HS in 1992.

After high school, Sanja went on to work at Carhartt, where she was still employed in the Retail and Visual Marketing department when she passed away. She worked in various departments during her 25 years at Carhartt. Most notably, Sanja ran the Carhartt Sports Marketing program for over 10 years, which included the sponsorship with Roush Racing and #17 Matt Kenseth in NASCAR, the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) association. She left a lasting memory with all of those she worked and interacted with during her time in sports marketing.

Sanja’s favorite hobby was traveling. Anytime she could hop on a plane to a warm, tropical, sunny resort for a few days of R&R - soaking up some rays and just lounging by a pool - she was happy. She loved meeting new people during her vacations, and still spoke with many new friends she met while on her tropical getaways. Once, she was even serenaded by Robert Plant on an acoustic guitar – even though the cost was her moving out of her suite so he could move into the room instead.

Sanja was also an amazing chef and spent countless hours scrolling through Pinterest looking for new recipes to try out on her husband. She loved meal planning almost as much as she loved cooking and eating what she created. The kitchen was definitely her ‘happy place’ at home.

But most of all, Sanja will be remembered for her huge heart and a big smile. She loved helping people in need and helped so many people over the years. Whether it was buying Carhartt merchandise for them using her employee discount, donating NASCAR memorabilia to an auction to help children with cancer, or helping homeless veterans with warm clothes during brutal Michigan winters - she was always helping out different individuals and charities.

Lastly, she was someone who just lit up a room when she walked in. Her six-foot-tall, svelte frame with her beautiful platinum blond hair and huge sunglasses, dressed to the nines with four-inch spiked heels was a sight to behold. Her beauty and personality made her bigger than life, and she had a way of making everyone around her feel like they were special. There aren’t many people in the world with a persona as intimidating, loving, and beautiful as Sanja had. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
