Obituary of LaVonne Shirley Storck

March 17, 1931 – June 13, 2017

Lavonne S. Storck. Age 86 of Wyandotte.

LaVonne was a proud resident of Wyandotte for 86 years. Not many of us can say we were born and died in the same home. On June 13, 2017, LaVonne left her beloved earthly home to be with her Heavenly Father. LaVonne was born to Albert and Maria Draeger. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949 and was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John United Church of Christ in Wyandotte. In her earlier years, she was instrumental in helping to spearhead McKinley Neighbors United and served on the board of directors. She also organized the first Girl Scout Troop at McKinley Elementary School and contributed numerous years in helping with outside horticultural beautification for the Wyandotte Historical Society. LaVonne’s passion was flowers and sharing them with others—at one time she had more than 100 varieties growing in her yard. She also loved to travel—visiting all 50 states and several countries. Her husband Donald Walter of 65 years will miss her dearly, along with her two daughters Marcia (John) Blackson and Denise (Gil) Webb; grandchildren Joshua (Angela) Blackson, Johanna (Tim) Clarke, Jeanette Blackson, Morgan (Adam) Rogers, Harrison Webb; eight great grandchildren and numerous heartfelt, long-time friends. Memorials appreciated to St. John United Church of Christ.
