Obituary of Ralph "Jerry" Austin
July 1, 1933 - October 25, 2020
Ralph “Jerry” Austin. Age 87 of Southgate.
Beloved husband of the late JoAnn. Loving father of Deneace (Al) Possuch, Elizabeth Howard, Lisa (Ralph) Molina, James and David (Cheryll). Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and sister, Shirley Wells.
FAMILY TRIBUTE
Ralph was born in 1933 in Highland Park, MI to Orville and Iris Austin. He graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1952, enlisted in the Navy, and served until 1953. He married JoAnn in 1954, whom he loved with all his heart.
Ralph worked at Ford Motor Company for 10 years and retired as Police Sergeant from the Southgate Police Department. He was a charter member of the Southgate American Legion, a member of FOP and Moose.
Ralph loved spending time at the cottage on the Muskegon River and going to car shows. He was an avid bowler and loved golf. Ralph was known as a patient and kind gentleman with a dry sense of humor. He especially enjoyed taking care of his wife and loved to just sit and spend time with everyone and have great laughs. He wanted nothing more than to be surrounded by family. He enjoyed going to see his great-grandkids at their sporting events, music concerts, and dance recitals. He liked being around the kids in their environment and especially loved his many islands.
