Family Tribute
Loving husband of wife Sherri for 32 years, caring stepfather of Stacey and Jonathan and Papa Bob to the grandchildren, Robert (Bob) Newman was called home on November 3, 2020 after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Born on April 29, 1939, eldest child of Allen and Viola, Bob was raised in Farmington, MI where he graduated high school. For most of his adult career he was a grocery buyer for a major food chain.
Upon retirement, Bob generously volunteered in many areas. Even after being diagnosed with Parkinson's, he delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered for many duties at Christ the King Church-- serving as usher, Bible class host, greeter and various other duties. When he and wife Sherri moved to a condo property, Bob served on the Board for many years. A do-it-yourselfer, he was handyman to family and friends.
Bob loved family, friends and donuts! His sweet tooth was well known. He also enjoyed a treat of coffee at Dunkin' Donuts or McDonald's. His favorite vacation spots were warm weather areas and beaches.
Even as his disease progressed, Bob's demeanor remained the same: an easy-going guy with blue eyes smiling. He will be sorely missed.
