Family Tribute
Thomas Verth Wharton, Jr. was born on March 15, 1947. He was raised in Wyandotte and spent the last 42 years of his life living on Grosse Ile.
As a child Thomas enjoyed spending his summers at a family farm in Parnell MI, located near Grand Rapids, with his aunts and uncles. At a young age, he developed a passion for American history and historical relics. He was known to have a vast collection of artifacts and firearms that dated back to the Revolutionary war.
Thomas received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy where he learned his electrical and instrumentation trade. He worked as an electrical engineer supporting heavy industry and also owned a side business that specialized in high voltage. Since he was a young man, Thomas always worked very hard to ensure that his family was well taken care of.
