Family Tribute

Rick has always had a strong personality and was always a strong influence. Family is always first. He taught the boys to always do their best and have respect for others. Just as his own father, he always had a great work ethic. He loved sports and enjoyed coaching for his boys as well as his grandchildren. For 32 years, he was employed with Great Lake Steel. Upon entering his retirement from there, he became a Riverview Bus Driver for 10 years. Rick enjoyed the rides very much and drove to a lot of sport events.

Growing up, Rick went to St. Pius School and was part of the first 8th grade class to graduate. Afterwards, he went on to High School at St. Francis Xavier in Ecorse after receiving a degree in Business Management and a degree in Business Law.

He was an Alter Server, Religious Education Teacher, and also became a Eucharistic Minister at St. Plus.

He never left you questioning where you stood with him as he always made his point loud and clear. He always made sure to provide his family with a nice vacation and he loved to have a good time. He always enjoyed a good party but unfortunately as his breathing started to fail, he lost a lot of his independence but his personality saved him.

Rick was a very proud Veteran and had served in the Navy for 5 years from 1967-1971 aboard the U.S.S Kearsarge. He loved old movies and enjoyed to cook. Every year, he cooked the Thanksgiving Turkey. He was the love of Isabelle’s life and she feels very blessed to have found the best. He left behind an example for all of us to follow.

Memorial contributions are appreciated to Downriver for Veterans or American Legion.
