Obituary of Eugene R. Stanek
September 30, 1932 – January 30, 2021
Eugene R. Stanek. Age 88 of New Boston.
Loving uncle to several nieces and nephews and their families.
Uncle Eugene lived a healthy and independent lifestyle until he contracted COVID-19 and God decided it was time to call him home. For those of us who knew him, faith and family were his foundation and he had a great appreciation for his Polish heritage and traditions. Eugene served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and spent most of his professional career at RSI Appliance Service (the family business and his home away from home). He was a part of our family gatherings for as long as any of us can remember and up until his 60s, it wasn’t unusual for him to walk 15 miles to get to his destination for an afternoon visit. Never one to be the center of attention, he could make you smile with his quiet sense of humor and conversations included current events, Dr. Oz tips to stay healthy and snippets of what it was like to grow up as the baby in a Polish family of eleven children. A life well lived and a man loved by many, he will be missed by all of us in the Stanek clan. Uncle Gene…from us to you…”Idz’ z bogiem” (Go with God).
Due to COVID a private burial will be held and a Memorial service will be planned at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Detroit.
