FAMILY TRIBUTE
After graduating from Grosse Ile High School John studied Drafting and obtained a Boiler Operators license. John attended Monroe Community College studying Environmental Engineering to complement his credentials as a Boiler Operating Engineer.
John worked at: Detroit Edison, Firestone, and then from McLouth Steel where he held various positions in Operations and management; he retired from McLouth in 1996.
His hobbies included: hunting, fishing, carpentry work, and he was an avid home gardener always having a large vegetable garden each summer that he enjoyed working together with his grandchildren.
John also enjoyed spending his time with young people in Wyandotte dedicating over 15 years to coaching local community sports teams including Wyandotte Indians Little League Football, Baseball at the Wyandotte Chemicals Club and St Joseph CYO teams. Over the years it was not uncommon for men he coached as boys to approach him and share old stories and appreciation for the time he spent with them. He also enjoyed bowling and watching the local & his favorite NHL Hockey teams.
Although he was a man of few words he was a person who always went out of his way to help others without hesitation or expecting reward; the act of generosity was reward enough.
