FAMILY TRIBUTE
Betty was born in Detroit, MI. on January 18, 1931. She was the only child of Emma and Ervin Ryno. Betty graduated from Southwestern high school in 1949. She was a buyer for, and worked in a Millinery shop in Detroit. She was once named Miss Detroit and had her picture on the side of a bus! Betty was a professional singer and recorded a Broadway musical demo album with song writer, Bobby Laurel.
At 20 years old, Betty met a very handsome, young Italian man, Dominic Conti and fell in love, She left her promising career behind to elope (hitch hiking!) and marry Dominic (a sailor, for God sakes!) against her parents wishes.
She went on to have four children and a wonderful, happy, healthy marriage that lasted almost 65 years when her soul mate, Dominic died, just one year ago.
She selflessly dedicated her life to work with and teach her handicap son, and all her children, through much tough love, to become independent, loving and successful adults. We were taught the "If you have love, you can conquer ANYTHING" - thank you Mom.
She was a genealogy expert and traced her paternal family heritage back to pre Civil War!
She was always interested in continued education and in her 50's studied Japanese and criminal law (her true passion --- after singing). She was also a published poet and recorded many, many hilarious family stories that will keep our family heritage, journey and love ever present for generations to come.
She loved scrabble and was very serious about the game she almost never lost!
Our mother was a bright and shining star in so many different ways and will be remembered so fondly by so many and we will all miss her so very deeply.
Rest well mom and enjoy living out the rest of His plan - see you soon.
With overwhelming love and praise,
Your children, grand children and great grandchildren
