Obituary of Olive Ashcroft

April 1, 1924 – September 15, 2017 Olive (Skipworth) Ashcroft. Age 93 of Huron Township, died September 15, 2017. Beloved wife for 66 years of the late William Ashcroft. Loving mother of Ronald (Cheryl), of Huron Township, MI; Richard, of Wyandotte, MI; and Robert, of Denver, CO. Proud and beloved grandmother of Lauren and Nicholas Ashcroft. Daughter of the late Benjamin Norman Skipworth and the late Eva (Bailey) Skipworth. She was born in Redcar, Yorkshire, England and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1929 to join a large group of British immigrants living in and around Wyandotte, MI. She grew up in Wyandotte with her parents, attending Roosevelt High School and winning awards for her piano playing at the State Level. During World War II, she met her future husband while he trained for the British Royal Air Force at Grosse Ile Naval Air Station, MI. After the War, they settled in Wyandotte, MI and started their family. Beginning in 1952 she helped run the family business, Down River Delivery, Inc., which continues to be operated by her family. She and her husband, William, traveled the world with the Nomads Travel Club. Her warm, sincere, and optimistic nature will be deeply missed.
