She was one of 10 children, her siblings preceded her in death: two boys, Albert and Allen and seven girls, Lasser, Catherine, Sadie, Eloise, Vera, Alfreda and Vivian. Dolphis was very close to her family and cherished the memories of growing up with her siblings at 558 Josephine Street. She was a longtime, proud resident of Dearborn, Michigan. She graduated from Northern High School in Detroit and went on to later become a Registered Nurse. Throughout her career, she was employed at Detroit General Hospital and later Detroit Receiving Hospital. Dolphis had a true passion for nursing, teaching and helping others, she especially had a love for children. She married her beloved husband , James Nelson Shaw and together they had a daughter, Leyuna. Leyuna gave them a grandson, Glenn “Rocky” whom she cherished; being the only grandchild, he was everything to her. Dolphis is fondly remembered by being one to enjoy a good Pepsi, a bag of chips, and her Clark bars.
