FAMILY TRIBUTE

Leah spent her life dedicated to her family. She always enjoyed quilting and sewing, and made many cherished gifts for her family and friends over the years. For Christmas, she would make a great variety of cookies to make sure everyone always had their favorite kind. Summers were spent adventuring up north with her husband and grandchildren, taking care to hit all of the best spots along the way. Her lifelong nickname of Whistle was well deserved, and served as an incredibly effective way to summon the kids home for dinner. She always had a camera at the ready to capture all of the best moments of any family gathering, and yet, somehow always managed to miss everyone’s best angles.

Her dedication to others also extended to her career choices. Throughout her life, she held a variety of jobs, always in roles that allowed her to help others. In the 90s, she began working for Wyandotte Public Schools in the Special Education department. She worked there for 16 years before retiring in 2006.

Her love of crafting and dedication to others is carried on by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, though none has quite managed to perfect her whistle that could be heard for miles.
