Obituary of Elizabeth M. Sparkes

March 7, 1933 – May 23, 2021

Elizabeth M. Sparkes.  Age 88 of Jackson, formerly of Southgate. 

Beloved wife of the late Claude “Red” Sparkes.  Loving mother of Steven (Gail) Sparkes, Christine (Keith) Kuhn and the late Kevin Sparkes.  Dearest mother-in-law of Mary Sparkes.  Dear sister of Robert (Marie) Boyd, Clive (Betty) Boyd, the late Alexander Boyd, the late John Boyd and the late James Boyd.  Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are appreciated to any dementia organization or a charity of one's choice.

Family Tribute 

Elizabeth exuded love and lightheartedness.  She was adored everywhere she went.  It was probably a combination of her Scottish accent, her petite frame, her humor, her sweetness and her feistiness.  Going out with her to one of her usual restaurants, doctor’s offices or hair salons was a bit like going out with a celebrity.  Wherever she was, she would often get stopped several times by people who were delighted to see her.  She elicited comments like “I just love her” and “She’s my favorite” by countless people she interacted with, regardless of how well they knew her.  Her presence and personality alone could make someone’s day.

Elizabeth loved her family - her parents, brothers, husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and more. She was always cracking us up, giving us hugs, complimenting a new shirt, waving goodbye at the window and sharing chocolates.  She also enjoyed her candies, her shoes, her cat, her soap operas and her crime shows. 

Elizabeth lived a long life filled with love, smiles, hugs, carry-on and laughter.  She was so very loved by all of us.  Her love, classic one-liners and famous facial expressions will live on.
