Karen was born in Ann Arbor, raised in Belleville and Lincoln Park, lived in Allen Park and Taylor, Detroit and Redford. Karen played first chair clarinet with the Detroit Women’s Symphony in her teens and 20’s. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Wayne State University in her 40’s. She considered her work as a psycho-social worker with substance and other abusers as a Call to Lay Ministry. She loved her many clients with the love of Christ. She was a leader at St. Michael’s, Lincoln Park, and Grace, Southgate, Episcopal Churches. Through various adversities in life, she was firm in her love and commitment to the importance of family.
