Obituary of Dorothy Jean Frailey
December 10, 1931 - August 16, 2021
Dorothy “Dodi” Frailey. Age 89 of Taylor.
Beloved wife of the late Glen “Gene” Frailey. Loving mother of Debra (Jacques) Ruhlman, David Christensen, Kelley (John) Diplock, Tami (Cal) Walker, Robin Frailey and the late Steve Frailey. Dearest grandmother of Kaitlyn, Branden and Alex. Great grandmother of Rufus and Kai.
Family Remembrance
Dodi was born on December 10, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. Dodi married Gene Frailey on August 17th, 1963. They raised their six children in Taylor, Michigan. Their children, Debra, Dave, Steve, Kelley, Tami and Robin along with their three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Branden and Alex and two great grandsons, Rufus and Kai will miss her very much.
Dodi reinvented herself several times through her work life, beginning with owning her own beauty shop in the 1950’s. After many years away from the workforce she began working as a cleaner for Church’s Lumber Yard but in typical Dodi fashion she worked her way up to managing an entire Church’s location. After working decades at Church’s, she wouldn’t let any grass grow under her feet, she began working at Macy’s and stayed well into her 80’s.
Although ambitious in her career, her best fit was that of matriarch and mother of the Frailey family. Dodi loved to host a good party, but they all paled in comparison to Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. All of which are fondly remembered by all of us. Her love of shopping (QVC will miss her terribly) combined with giving gifts made each Frailey Christmas legendary.
Although Dodi didn’t prefer cooking, she was an amazing cook and liked to draw her family together for Sunday afternoon meals. Dodi also had a competitive side that showed up on a bowling lane, or while coaching her daughter’s softball teams or playing Yahtzee or cards with family and friends. Dodi could also be found doing a crossword puzzle while sipping on coffee enjoying the early morning quiet of her often-busy home.
We love our mother Dodi, there will never be another one like her.
